Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Nwaturuocha (born July 12, 1975), professionally known as Rita Dominic, is a highly decorated Nigerian actress, film producer, and fashion icon. Renowned for her regal on-screen presence and exceptional acting range, Dominic has been a central figure in Nollywood for over two decades.
She won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2012 for her role in the Kenyan film Shattered, and won the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Actress in 2017 for her critically acclaimed performance in the historical drama 76.
Early Life and Education
Rita Dominic was born in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. She is of royal descent, belonging to the Royal Nwaturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise. She is the youngest of four children. Her parents were healthcare professionals; her father was a medical doctor and her mother a nursing officer.
Dominic developed a passion for acting early in life, performing in school plays and children's television programs in Imo State. She attended the prestigious Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, in Akwa Ibom State for her secondary education. She later enrolled at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts.
Acting Career
Breakthrough and Stardom (1998–2010)
Dominic made her official cinematic debut in 1998, starring in the Nollywood movie A Time to Kill. Her performance was highly praised, and she quickly became a highly sought-after actress. In the late 1990s and 2000s, she starred in over 100 Nollywood productions, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in African cinema alongside contemporaries like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, and Stella Damasus.

Producing and The Audrey Silva Company
Beyond acting, Rita Dominic is a highly respected film producer. She co-founded The Audrey Silva Company (TASC) with acclaimed Nigerian film director Mildred Okwo.
Under the TASC banner, Dominic produced and starred in the 2012 romantic comedy The Meeting. The film was a massive critical and commercial success, sweeping numerous awards at the AMVCAs and setting a new standard for production quality in Nollywood comedies. TASC subsequently produced other acclaimed films, including the psychological thriller La Femme Anjola (2021).

Rita Dominic is widely regarded as one of Nigeria's premier fashion icons, consistently topping "Best Dressed" lists at red carpet events across the continent. She has served as a brand ambassador for several global brands, including Glo (Globacom) and FlatTummy Tea.
In April 2022, Dominic married Nigerian publisher and entrepreneur Fidelis Anosike. Their traditional wedding in Imo State was a massive cultural event, attended by virtually the entire Nollywood industry and highly publicized across African social media.
